River festival takes over Vilnius: Your guide to navigating the city
Get ready, Vilnius! The first-ever River Festival is set to transform the Neris riverbanks into a massive stage for concerts, sports, and culture on July 25th. As the city prepares for this epic event, we’ve got your essential guide to navigating the temporary traffic changes and making your journey to the festival smooth and easy.
Key road closures to know
To create a safe and spectacular festival zone, several streets near the river will be temporarily closed. Plan your route ahead to avoid delays:
-
Upės Street: Closed to traffic from A. Nasvyčio to Kalvarijų St. from 7 PM on July 24 until 10 AM on July 26. Parking will be restricted here starting July 23.
-
Žvejų Street: Closed to traffic from 3 PM to 8 PM on July 25. Parking restrictions will also be in place.
-
A. Goštauto & J. Tumo-Vaižganto Streets: The lanes closest to the river will be closed to general traffic for most of July 25, though public transport will still operate.
-
Cyclists & Scooters: Please note that bike paths on Upės, Žvejų, and Olimpiečių streets will be closed on July 25 from 10 AM to midnight.
The smartest way to travel
With street closures in effect, the best way to join the celebration is by foot, bike, or public transport. To make it even easier, the city is boosting its services!
More buses and trolleybuses
On July 25, expect more frequent services on several key routes. Look out for extra runs on buses 1G, 3G, 4G, 6G, 43 and trolleybuses 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12, 17, 19. The 3G bus will also make an additional stop at Kražių station for extra convenience.
Changes to water transport
The river ferry will also adjust its schedule. On July 25, it will run a shortened route between the Green Bridge and Žirmūnai beach. Normal service will resume on July 27.
Plan your perfect festival trip
A little planning goes a long way! By leaving the car behind and opting for public transport, you can dive straight into the festival fun without any travel stress.
